Pricing & Costs

Moving costs in Pennsylvania depend on home size, distance, stairs, and services needed (packing, specialty items, etc.). Local moves are priced differently from long-distance moves, which factor in weight and mileage. Rather than guess from generic ranges, we provide free in-home estimates so you know exactly what your move will cost - no surprises.
We typically provide flat-rate quotes for moves based on our in-home assessment. This protects you from unexpected charges and gives you certainty about your moving costs. For smaller moves or labor-only services, we may offer hourly rates. Our estimator will recommend the best pricing structure for your specific situation.
No hidden fees - ever. The price we quote is the price you pay. Our estimates include labor, truck, equipment, and standard moving materials. If there are potential additional costs (like long carries, stairs, or specialty items), we discuss these during the estimate so there are no surprises on moving day.
Yes, we require a small deposit to secure your moving date. The deposit amount varies based on the size of your move and is fully credited toward your final bill. We accept credit cards, checks, and cash. The deposit is refundable if you cancel with adequate notice.
Tipping is appreciated but never required or expected. Some folks tip; some give cold drinks or snacks; some send a thank-you note afterward. Whatever feels right to you is right. If you do tip, you can give it to each mover directly or to the crew leader to distribute.

Booking & Scheduling

We recommend booking 2-4 weeks in advance for local moves and 4-6 weeks for long-distance moves. During peak season (May-September), we suggest booking 4-8 weeks ahead. However, we understand that life happens - contact us about last-minute moves and we'll do our best to accommodate your schedule.
We understand plans change. Cancellations made 7+ days before your move receive a full deposit refund. Cancellations within 3-7 days receive a 50% refund. Cancellations less than 72 hours before the move forfeit the deposit. Rescheduling is free with 72+ hours notice, subject to availability.
Yes! We offer moves 7 days a week, including most holidays. Weekend and holiday moves may have limited availability and slightly higher rates due to increased demand. Book early to secure your preferred date.
We'll confirm your arrival window 24-48 hours before your move. Most moves begin between 8am-10am. Our crews call 30-60 minutes before arrival. If we're running late for any reason, we'll let you know immediately. On-time arrival is part of our service guarantee.
Yes, you can reschedule with at least 72 hours notice at no additional charge, subject to availability. We'll work with you to find an alternative date that works. Peak season dates may be harder to reschedule, so please let us know as soon as possible if your plans change.

Yes! We offer full-service packing where we pack everything, partial packing for specific rooms or fragile items, and unpacking services at your destination. Our packers use professional-grade materials and techniques to protect your belongings. Many customers choose to pack themselves but have us handle fragile items like dishes, artwork, and electronics.
Yes, we specialize in moving delicate and valuable items including pianos (upright and grand), antique furniture, artwork and sculptures, wine collections, safes and gun cabinets, pool tables, and fragile heirlooms. Let us know about specialty items during your estimate so we can bring the right equipment and materials.
Yes! We offer short-term and long-term storage in our secure, climate-controlled facility in Lancaster, PA. This is perfect for gap moves (when your new home isn't ready), downsizing, renovations, or staging a home for sale. Storage can be added to any moving package.

Insurance & Protection

Yes! All moves include basic released-value protection at no extra charge - this is the federally mandated minimum coverage. For better protection on valuables, we offer Full Value Protection where we will repair, replace, or reimburse the current market value of damaged items. Your estimator will walk through both options so you can pick what fits your shipment.
Absolutely. Davcon Relocation Services is fully licensed, bonded, and insured. We carry comprehensive liability insurance and workers' compensation for all employees. Our DOT and PUC licensing numbers are available upon request. You can verify our credentials through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
First, our crews take extensive precautions to prevent damage - proper packing, padding, and handling techniques. If damage does occur, document it during the walk-through at delivery. Submit a claim within 9 months of your move, and we'll process it promptly. Claims are resolved based on your selected coverage level.
If you have valuable items (antiques, electronics, artwork, jewelry), we recommend upgrading to Full Value Protection. You may also check with your homeowner's or renter's insurance - some policies cover belongings during a move. We're happy to explain all coverage options during your estimate.

Packing & Preparation

For safety and legal reasons, we cannot transport: hazardous materials (propane, gasoline, chemicals, paint), perishable food, live plants (for long-distance moves), pets, firearms and ammunition, and important documents/irreplaceable items (we recommend keeping these with you). Let us know about any questionable items during your estimate.
For local moves, light clothing can usually stay in drawers - we'll wrap the dresser with padding. For long-distance moves or if the dresser is very heavy, we recommend emptying drawers to prevent damage and make the piece lighter to carry. Avoid leaving heavy items or liquids in drawers.
Defrost refrigerators and freezers 24-48 hours before the move. Disconnect and drain washing machines. Secure loose parts on all appliances. For gas appliances, we recommend having a professional disconnect them. We can reconnect most appliances at your new home - just let us know what you need.
Yes, we supply all necessary packing materials for our full-service and partial packing services. If you're packing yourself, we can provide boxes, tape, paper, bubble wrap, and specialty materials at competitive prices. We also have wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes and dish pack boxes for kitchenware.
Pack a box of items you'll need immediately: toiletries, medications, phone chargers, a change of clothes, important documents, basic tools, snacks, and pet supplies. Keep this box with you during the move - don't put it on the truck. Also helpful: toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies for your new home.

Moving Day

Yes, someone 18 or older who can make decisions must be present at both the origin and destination. This person will direct the movers, answer questions, and complete required paperwork. If you can't be there, you can designate a representative, but please let us know in advance.
Moving times vary based on home size, access, and services. A typical 2-bedroom apartment takes 4-6 hours for a local move. A 3-4 bedroom house typically takes 6-10 hours. We'll provide a time estimate during your consultation. Our crews work efficiently while taking care to protect your belongings.
Light rain doesn't stop us - we use protective covers and take extra precautions. In severe weather (heavy storms, ice, flooding), we may need to reschedule for safety. We'll contact you if conditions require a date change and work to reschedule as quickly as possible at no additional cost.
Reserve parking for our truck close to your entrance. Clear pathways and walkways. Ensure electricity is on for lighting. Have a plan for pets and children. Point out items that need special attention. Have payment ready. Create a floor plan showing furniture placement at your new home.
For local moves, yes - the same crew handles your entire move from start to finish. For long-distance moves, a dedicated driver transports your belongings. At delivery, the driver or a local crew will unload. We maintain detailed inventories to ensure everything arrives safely.
